Female Trekking Guide Training 2013 – Part 1

Our first training in 2013 has come to an end.  38 promising young women participated, many of them for the first time. Others came to refresh their knowledge and in order to reach their final goal of becoming a licensed trekking guide after some first experience in the field.

Basic Eco-Tourism, Culture & Religion, Basic First-Aid, Gender Roles & Discrimination, Map Reading and Women’s Health are only a few of the subjects that were studied at EWN during the past four weeks.

After three weeks of hard work, the girls could practice what they had just learned and show their skills as guides on a great Field Trip to Pothana. They put up tents, prepared presentations, collected rubbish and enjoyed being outside of the classroom.

The One Billion Rising Campaign on Valentine’s Day was a great way to conclude our program in the spirit of Women Empowerment.

EWN would like to thank everyone, especially our volunteers,  who contributed immensely to the training! We are very lucky to have such great support!
